Papers of Sir William Dargie, including correspondence, 1964-1968, 1983, from Hal Porter, 1964 and 1965; Lady Maie Casey, 1966, together with photograph of Lord Casey and a drawing by Lady Casey showing the correct placing of insignia; together with an explanatory note by Sir William; Sir James Plimsoll, 15 July, 1983, together with typescript of Sir James's address to the Friends of the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery on 28 June, 1983 entitled "On collectors and on Museums". Includes a black and white photograph of portrait of Sir Neil Hamilton Fairley. Also: Two field diaries kept by Sir William during the periods 29.1.69-19.2.69/11.8.69-11.9.69 and 4.6.70-17.6.70, while collecting Melanesian artifacts in Papua New Guinea and discussing with people there a proposed travelling Exhibition of Contemporary Art in 1970-71. Inserted in the 1969 diary are two typescript pages numbered 8 and 9, 27.10.69-28.10.69, a black and white negative of islands and a one page paper entitled "Arawe District, New Britain. Artificial Cranial Deformation."
